Star Quality For Your Special Event!

We'll work hard to keep the dance floor FULL!

When weddings don't go as well as a bride and groom hope, or are a complete disaster, it is almost ALWAYS due to lack of communication.  A DJ client relationship is what I am talking about!  Some things that need to be discussed are...

1. In the event that guests are not dancing or responding to the DJ, what do you want me (the DJ) to do?  Change music/play game/participation dance/physically pull people onto the floor/just leave them alone, let them listen to the music, and dance when they feel like it?

2.  What is your measure of success for your event? What would have to happen for you to say WOW, that was an awesome party?

3.  Interaction style: Mild and low-key with minimal talking, medium, upbeat and fun, or wild, crazy and aggressive?

4.  How do you feel about requests?  Do you want your DJ to play songs that are going to be party killers?

5.  Are you willing to let go and allow your DJ to use his or her expertise to make your party a success, or will you want to micromanage?

Questions you should ask when shopping for a DJ for your wedding:

1.  Ask to see a video of the SPECIFIC DJ who'll perform at your wedding...NOT just a generic company video.  If you don't ask for a specific DJ you'll probably just get someone "assigned" to you.  Is it important for you to know which DJ is going to perform at your wedding? I would think so. Yet many times I see people just "sign up" with a company because they seem big and profitable, because they have limos or a lot of props or whatever...but shouldn't you know your entertainer first and foremost?

2.  A general rule of thumb, make sure your DJ has performed AT LEAST 50 weddings.

3.  How much does your DJ know about music?

4.  Will your DJ conduct himself/or herself in a professional manner?  Does that matter to you? Or will they be enjoying your free bar and hitting on the guests?!

5.  Does your DJ have back-up equipment? We do! Lots of DJs "claim" to have back-up, but at the very least, there will be an interruption in your party while the equipment is swapped out.  We have TWO working systems with us at all events.  The back-up will be set up and placed under the table in case anything should go wrong with the sound system. That way, only a couple of cables would have to be swapped & it would be ready to go. Mike & I feel back-up equipment is VERY important. Nothing can stop the party when we are running the show!
